Bats and pterodactyls

Take from the goblin his crinkly face
His pointed ears from the gnome;
Borrow the nose of a leprechaun
An smuggle it carefully home;
Sew bawkie fingers to banshee wrist;
Stitch gossamer vellum between;
Fit legs to straddle with knees atwist
From a body of velveteen.

Douglas English (from Punch, 11 July 1923)
